Privacy Policy
LocalSpots (“the app”) is an iPhone app from White Oak AI. This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: there is no account, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking, and White Oak AI runs no server that receives your data.
What we collect
White Oak AI does not collect, receive or store your personal information. The app has no sign-in and no backend of ours. Everything below happens on your device or between your device and the service named.
Data stored in the app
- Your saved spots — name, address, coordinates, your note and tags, and the link you shared — are stored on your iPhone.
- iCloud sync (Pro). If you have LocalSpots Pro and iCloud Drive is on, your list is also stored in the app’s private iCloud container so it can sync between your devices. It is protected by your Apple ID and Apple’s iCloud terms; White Oak AI cannot access it.
Location
The app uses your location to sort your list by distance and, if you turn on nearby alerts, to notice when you are near a saved spot. This is processed on your device. We never receive your location. Nearby alerts use iOS geofencing and local notifications and require the “Always” location permission, which is optional; you can turn alerts off or revoke permission in Settings at any time.
Services the app contacts on your behalf
To work, the app sends requests directly from your device to the following. These services receive the request along with standard technical information such as your IP address, and handle it under their own policies.
- Place search. The place name or text you search is sent to the Google Places API (when enabled in the app) or to Apple Maps search, to find matching places.
- Shared links. When you share a link from Instagram, TikTok or Facebook, the app requests that public page from the service to read its preview caption. When you share a Google Maps or Apple Maps link, the app may follow a short link to its destination.
- Address lookup. For a Maps link with only a pin, the app may use Apple’s geocoding service to look up a name or address for those coordinates.
- Opening in Google Maps. When you tap a spot, it opens in Google Maps (app or web), which is governed by Google’s privacy policy.
Purchases
Purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. White Oak AI does not receive your payment details. The app checks your purchase status with the App Store, and may check which version of the app you first installed so that early users keep Pro.
What we don’t do
- No accounts, advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or tracking SDKs.
- No selling or sharing of personal data — we don’t have any to sell or share.
Your choices and deleting your data
You can delete any spot in the app (swipe it away). Deleting the app removes the on-device list. To remove the iCloud copy, go to Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage, find LocalSpots, and delete its data.
Children
LocalSpots is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above and, for material changes, note it in the app’s release notes.
